IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Mondo Oowada
Age: never stated, but I'm going with 16.
Canon: Dangan Ronpa
Canon Point: End of Chapter 2
Species: Human
Gender: Male, physically and mentally.
Orientation: Since he's under 18, I'm going to list this as inapplicable! He sort of assumes himself to be straight, though.
History: Let's Play of the game and TVTropes page.
Appearance: here or alternately his icons
Personality: Mondo Oowada enters Hope's Peak Academy as the Super High School Level Gang Leader, and he certainly lives up to that moniker. Or, at least he does at first glance. He doesn't have a filter at all, and violence is often the first thing he resorts to when he's faced with a problem.
But that isn't all he is. Although he did lead the Crazy Diamonds up until his enrollment at Hope's Peak, he did that as much to live up to his brother as he did for himself. He did it to prove himself as a man to his gang, to prove that he was capable of being a leader, as much as it was because he really enjoyed causing trouble by itself. He felt that, after his brother's death (which he felt responsible for), he had to prove to his brother's men that he was a worthwhile leader. And it didn't really work.
And even though Mondo was the murderer in the second chapter of Dangan Ronpa, it wasn't a premeditated crime. It was a crime of passion, yes, but more than that it was a crime born of jealousy. He was jealous of Chihiro, for being able to try to overcome his own weakness and try to become stronger, even though he had gotten sort of comfortable pretending to be a woman. Mondo got so angry that he killed Chihiro upon this discovery, but even after that he tried to keep Chihiro's secret by moving his body to the girls' locker room. Because he'd never go back on a "man's promise". And he also talks, when he's talking about looking for someone to work out with, how he'd never hit a woman (in reference to Sakura), so he certainly does have his own moral code, even if it sort of falls in on itself towards the end of the second chapter.
Although he's boisterous, and eventually more than a little dangerous, he isn't really a bad guy. After he spends almost an entire night challenging the hall monitor, Ishimaru, to see who could last longer in a sauna, they bond when they both realize that they have the same endurance, and begin calling each other "aniki", or essentially "brother". Even if he seems cool, this is enough to form a deep attatchment with Ishimaru, even though they seemed like an extremely unlikely pair.
He loves dogs, too, and used to keep a maltese. Not only that, but when he talks to Naegi about his dog, he gets serious, and sad, and clearly formed a massive attachment to the pet that he loved. It isn't what's expected— even Naegi is a little bit taken aback. But that's just the thing — when it matters, Mondo quits being a hardass.
And he isn't devoid of anxiety either. Even though he loves the gang, and even though he has a lot of fun doing it, he's nervous about his future, once his time with the gang finishes. He doesn't have enough book smarts to go to university, but he decides that he still wants to get a job, as a carpenter. Even though he's been used to just having fun, he does want to show something for himself later in life, to sort of make up for it.
Abilites: Nothing supernatural to note here! But he's a capable fighter and he can ride a motorcycle.
Other: Nothing really!

Oi—! Is this— is this hell or somethin'? It isn't Hope's Peak, though ...
Shit. Is there anyone listening? I think someone messed with my phone when I got here, 'cause I don't think I could get a video goin' on it before ... so I'm not even sure if this is goin' through right now. Does anyone know who the hell these family members are, though? 'Cause this isn't as bad as bein' trapped in one building, but ...
I don't wanna be forced to have a new family, okay? I've already got one! It doesn't matter what happened to them— that shit just isn't okay!
And I'm not gonna stay stuck here either— even if— even if I've got nowhere else to be ...
Third Person:
What woke Mondo up wasn't really the sun— it was the breeze. A real breeze, evidence of being outside. Seemed a bit weird that hell would have a nice summer breeze— because where else could he be right now? The last thing he remembered was that punishment, or a part of it. The Motorcycle Death Cage— being convicted of murder— Ishimaru standing up for him until the very end— these were the things Mondo remembered about his last moments at Hope's Peak.
But where the fuck was he? It all felt a little too solid to be hell, a little too real. Not that he had any real way of knowing, but he just didn't feel dead. And anyways, this place was too nice for a guy like him. Unless it was possible for God to fuck up his paperwork too, but that didn't make any sense either ...
But what about any of this shit had made sense? Hope's Peak had been crazy enough, and at least it looked like there was open space here. Probably even enough to go on a ride if he really wanted to ... but he definitely couldn't see a bike.
Man, even if they had fucked up and put him in heaven, why would they forget a bike? And it's then, when he's looking up the driveway, that he notices that envelope with his name on it. Was that— his transcript or some shit like that? Why would they hold that over his head when he was dead? Wasn't all that shit over and done with?
But when he actually got over there, when he actually got a look at the paperwork inside, even if he had never seen one before, he still got the idea. This shit was a lease.
Maybe this place was its own kind of hell.
