IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Misaki Yata
Age: 19
Canon: K Project
Canon Point: Episode 9, as HOMRA is about to invade the school island.
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: In terms of spouse he can go either way— he's pretty embarrassed around girls and he'd be sort of pissed with a guy but either way he's losing out so.

History: His embarrassingly detailed wiki page.
Appearance: What a babe ugh.

Personality: Yata is a firecracker— arguably quite literally. He's a member of HOMRA, the Red Clan in K Project's Japan, and one of its leaders, despite only being 19 years old. HOMRA defines Yata, or he wants to be defined by it, and he greatly values his membership in the gang, and the gang's overall reputation. He swears by it, it's the greatest thing in the world to him, and he isn't afraid to remind anyone that he thinks so.

But even if he is a leader, he's still incredibly brash and loud. His fighting style is a lot like him, loose and in your face, and it doesn't take much for him for him to start off. Especially if you mention his height— or Saruhiko Fushimi, the once-member of HOMRA (who defected to Sceptre-4, a rival group). So he isn't exactly the most mature of commanders. In fact he has a pretty big ego, and can come off incredibly cocky. But it's more than just cockiness, it's pride that drives him and keeps him going. But it's well-meaning, and even if he tends to pick a lot of fights, he's mostly a loud barker, without much bite at the end of the day. But he's fairly aware of this, and he does try to intimidate new members of HOMRA on several occasions. But it's not entirely effective, given that he's small, and also that several members of his gang have been known to pick him up and throw him over their shoulder when he gets too loud. And his show-offy tendencies extend beyond his fighting style and into his recreational skateboarding, as well.

And even though he pretends to be smooth (sometimes, anyways), he gets incredibly embarrassed when he talks to women, and becomes something of a blushing, blustering mess. It's mostly played for comedy, but it does show something of a soft side, as does his behavior toward the members of HOMRA. He is incredibly deferential toward Suoh, the clan's King, and in many ways it's his faithfulness to his clansmen that drives his rebelliousness, such as being one of the first after Yashiro at the beginning of the show when he thinks that Yashiro is responsible for Totsuka's murder.

His relationships are mostly straightforward, with the exception of one. He looks up to Mikoto Suoh as a hero, the leader of his gang and probably the most important person in his life. He was even willing to beat up one of his fellow gang members for suggesting that he might have defected to Sceptre-4 when he was captured toward the beginning of the series. Even if he outwardly resents Kusanagi, their second in command, at least for his tendency to call him Yata-chan, he still listens to his orders. He openly said he thought Tatara Totsuka was pretty weird, but he couldn't help but be attracted to his attitude, like the rest of HOMRA.

But his relationship with Saruhiko Fushimi probably tells us the most about his character. They were friends before they even joined HOMRA, and joined together. So it would be logical to an extent, that Yata would react with so much anger when Fushimi left, when Fushimi burned his HOMRA mark right in front of him. His betrayal of HOMRA was a huge insult to Yata, and even if he said it was a disrespect to Suoh, he was probably upset that he felt that his friend was leaving them and saying what HOMRA did was useless and silly. His fights with Fushimi once the series begins prove to be incredibly hard to break up, since Yata wants him to suffer for that decision, and maybe, somewhere, he wants Fushimi to suddenly decide to rejoin HOMRA, too.

Abilites: Yata has the red aura, like the rest of the Red Clan, which is fire based. Notably, he can actually generate his aura from his skateboard. He's also a capable hand-to-hand combatant.

Other: He's only 167 cm ... and he refers to himself as Yatagarasu (and occasionally other people in HOMRA do), the three legged crow in Japanese myth.

SAMPLES
First Person: H- hey! What's the big idea here?

[ the kid (or, well, someone who looks like a kid) on screen does not look happy to be here, not at all. ]

Who the hell thought this kinda thing would be funny?

[ he holds up his lease agreement. that says he's to be a parent. ]

You really think some piece of paper's gonna hold Yatagarasu down, huh? Well think again. I don't have the time to be a family man. Hell, even if I had more time, I wouldn't wanna. Do I look like I'd be a good dad to you?!

... Tch, don't answer that. But if someone doesn't tell me how to get out of here, someone's gonna suffer for it. Alright?!

[ he does his very best to look threatening as he turns off the feed. ]

Third Person:
When Yata woke up, it was snowing.

It wasn't even snowing very hard, but hadn't it been clear? They were heading to the school island, HOMRA was going to get revenge for Tatara. It all would have been so simple if he had just been able to finish that chant but— no.

That wasn't where they were anymore. Where the fuck was he, anyways? Why'd he wake up on a lawn chair with snow in his hair? In a non-descript place that looked nothing like any place in his city? It was too still here, too sterile.

And more than that, it was cold. Really cold. And he couldn't get warm again.

He wasn't even usually the type to use his aura like that, but he couldn't use it at all. Why the hell would that be? He still had his king— as far as he knew. He was still a member of HOMRA, first and foremost, and there was no way that he'd just lost the thing that made him a Red Clansman. It wasn't fucking possible, even changing teams hadn't made people lose their auras.

His eyes shifted toward the door of the house. There was an envelope there, and it looked like it had his name on it. He didn't trust anything that looked like government paperwork, honestly. And the envelope looked thick, too. Way too much bullshit that he didn't want to deal with.

But his thought was interrupted by a shiver down his spine. At least that envelope had to have a key so that he could get into that drab house that looked like every house on the block. He hated this place already, hated the sameness, hated the silence. But he hated the cold more, and right now, his only choice was to be a little co-operative.
