Mikoshiba Seijuurou | [community profile] hollyheights

OOC INFORMATION;
Other Characters: Sphintus Carmen ([personal profile] remedial)

IC INFORMATION;
Character Name: Mikoshiba Seijuurou
Age: 18
Canon: Free! Iwatobi Swim Club
Canon Point: Post Season 1
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Orientation: Mikoshiba blatantly has a crush on a young woman in canon, so we'll call him heterosexual for the sake of family placement!
History: Mikoshiba, in some ways, is lucky— he's a fairly minor character who's removed from most of the major movement and drama in the anime he comes from. This means that we don't know much of his history before the start of the series, or how he's developed as a character, but we do know something about his background and how capable he is. He placed second, to Haruka, in a tournament in middle school— which is especially impressive when you consider how much of a prodigy Haruka was supposed to be— and how fast. The fact that he managed to make it to captaincy at a school like Samezuka, with such a strong swim program, really speaks to how impressive Mikoshiba has to be as a swimmer. Besides that, we don't know much about his history— we know that he has a younger sister, who's around Gou's age, which means he's probably used to having something of a leadership role at home, and we know that he's very well respected and taken seriously by the Samezuka Swim Club's members. ( WIKI ARTICLE HERE )
Appearance: Here!

Personality: Mikoshiba, on first glance, is a pretty intimidating guy. He's tall and he has a good scowl— and when you're the captain of the rival team, isn't it natural to expect that he'd be a bit scary? Mikoshiba does command respect, though— when he needs to be serious, he is. Even Rin can't throw a tantrum directly in front of Mikoshiba, despite his behavior toward most other characters in the series, because he knows that wouldn't end well for him. Mikoshiba almost always has a serious tone by default, which makes people assume that he's always kind of scary.

But it doesn't take much to get under that— he's a friendly and enthusiastic guy, especially toward girls he likes. He's always really enthusiastic when he sees Gou— to the point that it makes some people forget that he actually is a serious swimmer, and sometimes a serious guy. He's generally a really energetic guy, and he doesn't have much concept of not speaking his mind (most obvious when he flat out tells Gou that he thinks she's cute when they first meet).

The other thing to note— besides the fact that he works incredibly hard as a swimmer, despite the friendly exterior— is that as a captain he's both permissive and also incredibly harsh. He's permissive of Rin's whims until it becomes clear that he'd bring the team down— Rin is a great swimmer, and Mikoshiba knows it, but not when he's in the midst of fixating so strongly on Iwatobi. Mikoshiba is really serious as a captain, and he really wouldn't endanger their placement for anything, even though they always place so well. It's this seriousness that a lot of people who aren't on Samezuka's swim team would probably never see— and that's commented on by Nagisa, who just assumed that Mikoshiba was an enthusiastic guy. And even if Mikoshiba can be a little oblivious, and maybe sometimes too enthusiatic (see: the pictures of Gou in his room), he's still essentially an incredibly hardworking, respectable guy. He just smiles like an idiot when he's happy to see someone, and since when is that a crime?

Other: The man reads muscle magazines, how could a more perfect man exist?

SAMPLES;
First Person:
[The young man is scowling a little as he puts on the feed— to the point that anyone watching probably feels like they're about to get a stern talking to.]

Yo, Mikoshiba here.

[— But then he grins.]

You know, I wasn't expecting to be a father this early. It's kinda cool, but I wish I had gotten a choice in who I got to marry. Not that she isn't cute, she's just....

[He trails off, obviously thinking about something else for the moment, before the serious expression returns.]

But this is really just a joke, right? I've got a little sister to take care of, and I wanna graduate. I'm not really sure how I got taken to America in the first place, but one of you guys has to know how to get back. Just let me know.

... In the meantime, if you know where a pool is, that wouldn't be a bad piece of information either.

[He gives his audience another smile before he signs off.]

Third Person:
He blinked once when he woke up.

This wasn't his dorm room.

It was the farthest thing possible from a dorm room. He was laying a lawn chair outside, and when he got out of the chair and looked around, it became pretty obvious that he was nowhere near Samezuka Academy. It looked a little bit like the way America was in the movies, honestly. How weird.

But he wouldn't just stand there dumbly if there was a way he could figure out what on earth was going on here. He was in front of a house— and there was something on the door with his name written neatly on it. He didn't want to bother with that quite yet, honestly— there wasn't going to be that much information inside a house, anyways. Not when there were people waking up on other lawn chairs around him, slowly, and he could just try asking them instead. After all, he had to take Samezuka to Nationals pretty soon— it would look pretty bad if he'd just abandoned them for the sake of some forced vacation.

Then again, was such a thing even possible? He wasn't sure if it was possible to have a forced vacation, but he'd probably have a hard time explaining how a trip to America was kidnapping or something like that, either. So he'd just have to get back fast enough that no one would notice.

It'd be easy, right?
